BLACK ROCK MOUNTAIN RESORT:

Driving into Park City on the right side, across from the lumber yard and under construction now is the Black Rock Mountain Resort (BRMR), which is approximately 500,000 square feet coming to the North shores of the Jordanelle.  The landmark of BRMR is to offer luxury living in Park City at affordable prices.  These condos start in the low $400ks for 1,277 square feet.  Three different floorplans are offered with 2 and 3 bedrooms, as well as lock-out options to maximize rental income.  HOA fees start at $499/month and include High Speed Internet, Phone, Cable, Sewer, Water, Trash, Underground Parking, Snow Removal/landscaping, Exterior and Common Area Maintenance. The amenities for this resort are quite expansive, including:

Year Round Heated Pool, Fitness Center, Game Lounge, on-site restaurant Local's Favorite Maxwell's east coast eatery Restaurant and Bar, a Market & Cafe, underground parking, owner and guest storage, conference space, and a year round indoor ice event center. BRMR will boast a brand new, state-of-the art Ice Event Center containing two indoor and one outdoor ice rinks with stadium seating for up to 500 spectators to highlight and be a destination for hockey teams and tournaments.

From KPCW interview: Developer Rich Wolper says that the big pull for the resort will be their event center, which may even be able to bring the National Hockey League’s Los Angeles team to the center for training. “We’ll host hockey tournaments,” Wolper continued. “We also will be able to melt the ice. Do small intimate concerts, comedy shows, some stuff we’ve been talking about. We met with Luc Robitaille of the (Los Angeles) Kings and they want to bring their summer camp or training camp there. One of the main draws for that is we’re an NHL size rink, as opposed to most of the rinks in Utah are Olympic sized. He wanted to practice on NHL sized ice like his team plays on. Another draw was the fact that we’re at 7,000 feet of altitude and we’ll have a high-end workout facility. The other side is each hotel room is 1,300 square feet with a full commercial kitchen and they’ll have privacy. They could either have room service, eat at Maxwell’s or they could cook their own food a lot of these guys are on special diets.”

The developers are also working with local groups to meet the demand for ice including Park City Ice Arena.

“They want to join forces on a bunch of stuff,” Wolper said. “I’m not really sure what that looks like yet but there’s just not enough ice (currently).  I met with Park City Miners who are a youth program and they have 250 kids and they’re dying for ice at different times. Where they don’t have to have these kids eating at 11:00 at night or driving all the way into Salt Lake City. In addition, Justin and I own a Junior A hockey team in the Western States Hockey League. We have kids from all over the world that play hockey for us in order to get NCAA scholarships and pro contracts. Those kids are 18-21 so they’ll be at the rink every single day, working out, skating. Then we’ll have our games there, showcases there, tournaments, you name it.”

The developers have also met with US Figure Skating, and Park City Curling about using the facilities.

The ice rink would not be able to host Olympic hockey events at a hypothetical 2030 Winter Olympics but might be able to hold other ice events.

“Figure skating and curling could come over,” Wolper explained. “Short track speed skating possibly. With Park City having the Olympic sheet over there it gives best of both worlds.”

The event center is hoping to open Spring of 2020. Contracts for the condos start to become available in the next few weeks.
